Program

High Tech, High Nature™ is a hands-on immersive retreat. You will be guided from layout to completion of a real project to understand how Archicad works for you during the entire architectural process.

Hotel accommodations will be at the Yosemite Lodge; all studio sessions will be held in the Cliff Room at the Lodge.

The instructors will create a studio environment for you with sessions in the morning, afternoon and early evening. We will allow time to take breaks to "commune with nature" via short walks through the Valley in the morning and afternoon to clear out your head and take in the surrounding inspiration. Ample time will be available to check phone messages and e-mail, via high-speed wireless internet access.

You will be assisted in taking a small project from massing studies to final working drawings during our studio sessions. Our goal is to show you the key elements of how to practice architecture with Archicad and help you understand what it takes to be a digital architect. Participants will present their work using computer generated images and PDF files.

Our program will parallel the architectural process. Participants will be divided into two tracks: novice and intermediate and will work independently yet parallel to each other. You will learn how to use Archicad and digital tools to create:

bubble diagrams, site modeling, massing studies, schematic design, design development presentations, working drawings
